Dr. Schweitzer was born and raised in Manhattan Beach, CA. In 1993, he moved to eastern North Carolina where he worked as an orthodontics assistant while he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Elizabeth City State, graduating with a Grade Point Average of 3.97. Dr. Schweitzer received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the School of Dentistry at UNC, Chapel Hill, graduating with honors in May of 2003.

After graduation, he made his home in Carteret County. He trained with Dr. Michael Silverman, DDS for conscious sedation in July of 2003 and has been a member of the DOCS organization since that time. He is also certified in CPR, basic and advanced life support. Dr. Schweitzer has been trained and certified in Lumineers cosmetic dentistry, as well as CEREC trained for the best in tooth restoration currently available. In July of 2006, he became a 50 / 50 partner with Dr. Stephen Smith.

Dr. Schweitzer is a member of the Newport Rotary and is President Elect for the term 2008-2009. He enjoys fishing, playing games, dancing and spending time with his family. Dr. Schweitzer's girlfriend, Inez, fulfilled his hopes and dreams when she agreed to take his hand in marriage.
